Covid-19 School Testing

Covid-19 Rapid Lateral Testing in schools

With the recent announcement that the government will be rolling out a rapid coronavirus testing programme in schools from January, Senior Leadership Teams may now be wondering how they can achieve this aim with their current resources. This is where Medical Lifesigns can help.

Medical Lifesigns has over 20 years’ experience and can provide qualified medical staff to schools on a daily basis. All our staff are familiar with the running of schools and hold enhanced DBS certification.

Under the new government plans, staff will be tested once, and pupils twice, within the first week of returning to school. This will be via Lateral Flow Testing.

Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock said:

It is so important we drive down transmission rates among school age children, so we are rolling out rapid testing in all schools as quickly as possible”.

Testing on this scale brings real benefits to education, it means more children, teachers and support staff can stay in their classes in schools and colleges without the need to self-isolate.

Test kits will begin arriving at secondary schools for the first phase of rollout to staff from the first week of January.

Testing was arranged to be as unintrusive as possible but is time consuming and needs to be conducted correctly. By employing Medical Lifesigns, you can be assured that the testing in your school will be accurate and hassle free.

Each test takes on average 5-10 minutes, with our individual medics being able to process 40-50 tests per day. Oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swabs are taken from the individual before immediate testing on-site. Within 20-40 minutes an accurate test result is available. This must be repeated twice 3-5 days apart.

Medical Lifesigns charges a flat daily fee of £250 (exc. VAT) per medic employed in this programme. Should you wish to discuss your school’s requirements further, please contact us below.
